Natural Resources San Francisco logo

Natural Resources SF

This one is close to my heart because I spent so much time at Natural Resources during my pregnancy and postpartum. If you live in the city, it truly is a gem of a place and you should definitely go see them. Not only do they offer in person birth education courses, they create a true feeling of community. They also offer a meet the doula event where you can meet several prenatal and postpartum doulas at once. They offer both in person and virtual/on-demand birth prep courses as well as many postpartum classes, mother’s circles and a cozy area to stop in and nurse if you’re out and about with baby.
Natural Resources is now offering a 5 week Baby & Me support group at Love Story Yoga in Larkspur. I attended a similar group in the city after having my daughter and it was a life saver!

Prenatal/Birth Doulas

Heather Hughes Doula San Francisco

Home Girls, Heather Hughes

Heather is a full spectrum doula with years of experience and a lot of heart. She helps new mothers and their partners to navigate the many decisions that go along with having a baby, offering heartfelt guidance and zero judgement. Whether you choose a home birth or a hospital birth, Heather will be a shining light of positivity and hope before, during and after labor.
A personal story about Heather: Heather was my doula for the birth of my now 7-year-old daughter and I honestly can’t imagine having done it without her. She helped so much during my hospital birth. She made my hospital room feel like a truly special place, setting up lights in the bathroom, spraying essential oils, providing massage techniques and other pain reduction techniques and most importantly offering so much emotional support. To this day, I believe she is the reason my induction + epidural labor did not end in a c-section because she knew exactly what to do. With her help I went from a stalled labor and 6cm dilated to 10cm and ready to push within 30 minutes. All of this is to say, she’s one of the best. If you’re interviewing potential birth doulas, definitely put her on your short list.
